The final “class” of the day was Care of Magical Creatures. This was our last Harry Potter experiment and something students could take home with them. For Care of Magical Creatures class, students did an experiment called Dragon Snot.
I showed this clip from Harry Potter about dragons and we read the top of the worksheet in my Harry Potter pack. Then, we started to create the “potion” in our cauldrons. Dragon snot is the same thing as slime (don’t tell me students that though). You need baking soda, water, contact solution, and glue. I have all the measurements and special names for the ingredients included in my pack.
This was my students’ favorite experiment from Harry Potter Day for sure. The little cauldrons definitely added a bit of magic and students were excited to take them home. This was the last activity we did for Harry Potter Day. When students were done I let them read about different magical creatures here and think about which one they would keep as a pet.
