As I was planning my end of the year themed days, my students put in a request for a Harry Potter Day. I’m not going to lie to you… my gut instinct was to say no. It was for the last week of school, I had to pack my room up because I am moving to a new grade level, and I had zero resources for a Harry Potter themed day in the classroom. Also, you can’t do anything small when it comes to Harry Potter.
Well, long story short, my babies convinced me to do it and it was SO MUCH FUN! I 10/10 recommend doing a Hogwarts day in your classroom! Watch this video to see how it turned out!
Decorating the Classroom
This was the part I was least excited about, so I kept it pretty simple. One of my best friends had the Harry Potter font on her computer, so we used my cricut to make different signs to hang up in the classroom. We made one to cover my empty bulletin board that said “We are a Class Family Forever and Always,” and we used the deathly hallows sign for the a in always. Then we made a banner for each of the houses using bulletin board paper. The last sign we made said “Welcome to Hogwarts” and I hung it by the window so students could see it when they walked in. I also put a bunch of envelopes on a string and hung them from my blinds for a little extra decor – I already had the envelopes and it was easy to put together!
The only thing I bought for decoration was a pack of this brick backdrop, which I used for my door and the wall. There was SO much included, so I definitely recommend splurging on it. I covered the entrance to my door and cut it down the center. Then I used my cricut to make a platform 9 ¾ sign. Then students could run through the platform like Harry Potter does!
